BMW said Tuesday it was recalling about 1.5 million vehicles due to problems with their brakes and cut its outlook for the year, sending the German luxury carmaker's shares tumbling.

Carmaker BMW will recall 1.4 million vehicles in China due to faulty airbags, the country's market regulator announced on Friday.

The company said that the models affected were the 2019-2020 BMW M5, M8, X5 M and X6 M which were produced between January 2019 to November are potentially affected.

Germany's luxury automaker BMW is going to recall 23,700 diesel cars in Europe over an engine fire danger, following a similar action in South Korea, a German media newspaper reported Tuesday.

The recall involves models including the BMW 118i series, BMW 120i series and BMW 125i series, which were produced between June 9 and 17, 2017.

The new recall is only for the BMW 3 series manufactured from December 2004 and July 2011. Both petrol and diesel engine cars are affected.

The vehicles being recalled are BMW 1 Series, 3 Series, Z4 and X1 petrol and diesel models made between March 2007 and August 2011, the BBC said.

BMW said the models affected were 5- and 7-Series cars made between 2012 and 2017 containing high-performance diesel engines and three turbo chargers.

The second recall covers 740,000 U.S. 2007-2011 vehicles with a valve heater that could rust and lead to a fire in rare cases.
