As many as 15 people, including seven Indians, and five Indian call centres have been indicted in a multimillion-dollar scam which defrauded over 2,000 US citizens, resulting in over $5.5 million in losses, the department of justice said on Friday.

A Mumbai businessman who 'mentored' Sagar Thakkar alias Shaggy, the alleged mastermind of the multi-million dollar fake call center racket, wherein US-based taxpayers were allegedly conned by Indian tele-callers, has been arrested, police said today.

Four people have been arrested by the Noida cyber cell for allegedly running a call centre through which they made crores of rupees by seducing people on the phone. Police says that the general manager and three employees including a girl have been nabbed. They are also investigating a big BPO company which is involved in the case.
