Car Free Day Gopal Rai

A car-free day was today kicked off in north Delhi with a cycle rally led by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who accused the Delhi Police of not making efforts to make the event a success.

With an aim to encourage people to use public transport, the Delhi government has decided to organise second Car Free Day in Dwarka on November 22 which will witness cycle rally, human chain and participations by IAS and DANICS officers.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is practicing riding a cycle - in preparation for the city's first Car Free Day, or rather, morning. On Thursday, when cars will not be allowed to ply in the stretch between India Gate and Red Fort from 7 am to mid-day, Mr Kejriwal and his ministers will hold a cycle rally.

Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai has urged people to adopt "one family-one car" norm to reduce traffic on the capital's roads and also appealed to them to use public transport.
