Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said November 8 will be observed as "anti-black money day". It was on this day last year that Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the notes ban move that scrapped Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes overnight. "Demonetisation was a big step," Mr Jaitley said today.

Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan today congratulated Gujarat on becoming the first state in the country for establishing cashless distribution of food grain.

As debate goes on across the country regarding the cash to cashless transition, colleges in Gujarat are going digital to eliminate the worries about cash payments. Some universities in the state have shifted to online payments for students and many of the colleges under them are slowly making the transition.

To popularise cashless transactions among people following the demonetisation move, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today inaugurated the 'digital donation' system at the Ambaji Temple and made a donation of Rs 31,000 using his wife's debit card.
