A special CBI court in Bhopal on Monday sentenced 11 persons to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each in a decade-old Vyapam case (now Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB).

The CBI on Thursday filed a charge-sheet in a special court here against 60 accused in a case related to the multi-crore Vyapam admission and recruitment scam in Madhya Pradesh, the prosecution said.

A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Monday announced the quantum of sentence for the 31 convicts in Vyapam recruitment and admission scam in the state.

A special CBI court on Friday sentenced 30 people to seven years' imprisonment and sent a middleman to jail for 10 years in a police recruitment scam dating back to 2013. The recruitment drive was conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), better known by the Hindi acronym Vyapam.

A CBI court on Thursday convicted 31 people in a case related to the infamous Vyapam recruitment and admission scam of Madhya Pradesh.

The Supreme Court today sought response from the Centre and Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav on a plea seeking his removal on the ground of his alleged involvement in the Vyapam scam, currently being probed by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The CBI told the Supreme Court today that it simply doesn't have enough officers to handle the Vyapam recruitment scam, which was handed over to the agency amid national focus on the unusually large number of deaths linked to the case.

Four men arrested in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly posting derogatory comments on WhatsApp about Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his alleged role in the Vyapam scam, were granted bail by a local court yesterday evening.
