A special court in Panchkula on Wednesday dismissed pleas challenging CBI closure reports in two cases linked to Ruchika Malhotra molestation against disgraced former Haryana top cop SPS Rathore but allowed the petitioner to move the lower court.

CBI ,on Monday, strongly opposed before the Punjab and Haryana High Court the bail plea of former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore, sentenced to an 18-month jail term in the Ruchika Girhotra molestation case, and submitted that he must undergo "some part of marginal sentence" awarded to him.

A local court will pronounce on Thursday the verdict on disgraced former Haryana Director General of Police SPS Rathore's plea challenging the six-month sentence awarded to him by a CBI court in Ruchika Girhotra molestation case.

The CBI has said former Haryana DGP, SPS Rathore, did not act on the spur of the moment but he had a well laid out plan to molest Ruchika.

"The prolonged trial and the age of the convict can be considered while passing the order on quantum of sentence," the CBI court said.

Former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore is accused of molesting 14-year-old Ruchika Girhotra, who had later committed suicide. The case dates back to 1990. It's been nine years since the CBI filed a charge sheet in the case on complaint of Parkash, father of Ruchika's friend Reemu, an eyewitness to the incident.
