DMK President MK Stalin on Friday expressed shock that no action has been taken against Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare Minister C Vijaya Baskar and DGP TK Rajendran after CBI raids related to the gutkha scam and again demanded their sacking as well as arrest.

CBI has recovered 16 more luxury vehicles imported by a Hyderabad-based businessman in alleged violation of customs laws which have been sold to various influential persons even as the SUV registered in the name of DMK leader M K Stalin's son remained untraceable.

Amid uproar over CBI raids against his son M K Stalin, DMK Chief M Karunanidhi on Thursday gave a guarded reaction on whether the action was a political vendetta and said he can believe the central ministers statements that the raids happened without the knowledge of UPA government.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said that his government is "very upset" about the CBI raids on DMK leader MK Stalin's house in Chennai today. Dr Singh said, "The timing of the raid is unfortunate. The government didn't do it. We will find out who is responsible."

After several senior Cabinet ministers said they "strongly disapproved" the CBI's raids against DMK leader MK Stalin, the investigating agency defended its action and said the searches were conducted in accordance with procedure and were not intended to target any particular individual.

Finance Minister P Chidambaram has said that he was "dismayed" by the CBI's raids at DMK leader MK Stalin's residence in Chennai this morning. He also added that he "strongly disapproved" the CBI's action as it is "bound to be misunderstood."

BJP on Thursday said CBI searches at DMK leader M K Stalin's residence is an example of the "blatant" misuse of power by the UPA government for its survival and proves that it uses the probe agency to muzzle allies who are walking out of the ruling coalition.

As the government claimed it had no role to play in the CBI raids at DMK leader MK Stalin's house this morning, the politician's father and DMK party chief M Karunanidhi said that his party "is often falsely implicated. It may be or may not be political vendetta."
