The government will procure two more supercomputers in order to improve weather forecasting in the country, a top ministry official said on Sunday, adding that the combined computing powers would be eight times the existing capacity.

Recent policy measures announced by the Centre including flexible utilisation of domestic coal linkage and procurement of short-term power through reverse auction are favourable for state discoms as they is likely to reduce the cost of power purchase, says a report.

In a bid to reduce power rate for consumers and stop arbitrary procurement of transmission equipment by states, the Centre today started procuring equipment for this.
