Chaar Dhaam Yatra

Twenty four hours after a major landslide blocked vehicular traffic on the Rishikesh-Badrinath route, thousands of pilgrims of the 'Chaar Dhaam Yatra' continue to be stranded, an official said today.

Incessant rain continued to lash many districts in the hill state of Uttarakhand overnight resulting in more landslides. After a fresh weather alert, the state government has suspended the 'chaar dhaam yatra' till Saturday as all roads leading to the Himalayan shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamnotri and Gangotri are blocked.
