Chain Snatcher Fleds

A 35-year-woman was injured after being attacked on her face and back with a knife allegedly by a man who robbed her gold chain and fled the spot on a motorcycle, the Delhi Police said today.

On Wednesday, the Bangur Nagar police arrested the three accused for killing Khan. The main accused, identified as Alam Khan, an inveterate chain snatcher, was traced to Kolkata where he had fled to his relatives after he received a call from a Crime Branch constable calling him to the Branch's Unit 11 at Kandivli.

In two separate incidents in Samta Nagar in Kandivli and Gokul Dham in Goregaon, two thieves swallowed the chains they fled with; while one was made to throw up the object, the other was given laxatives to pass it out.

A man arrested for chain snatching on Friday escaped from police custody in suburban Bandra, hours after being nabbed and thrashed, only to land behind bars once again in the evening.
