Chain Snatcher Killed

A woman allegedly killed her infant-daughter, reportedly of unsound mind and unwell, by dumping her in a sump here on Monday and tried to give an impression that some chain-snatchers were responsible for the death, police said.

A chain-snatcher died in Delhi today after he was allegedly hit on the head with an iron rod by a man trying to stop him from fleeing, the police said.

On Wednesday, the Bangur Nagar police arrested the three accused for killing Khan. The main accused, identified as Alam Khan, an inveterate chain snatcher, was traced to Kolkata where he had fled to his relatives after he received a call from a Crime Branch constable calling him to the Branch's Unit 11 at Kandivli.
