In Chennai Civic Polls, Order Allocating More Seats For Women Struck Down

The Madras High Court on Tuesday struck down a notification of the Tamil Nadu government, which allocated more than 50 per cent of seats to women in the upcoming election to Chennai city local body.

Vasan's Tamil Maanila Congress To Go Alone In Tamil Nadu Civic Body Polls

Ending its alliance with Vijayakanth's DMDK and Vaiko's People Welfare Front combine, GK Vasan's Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) today announced that it will face upcoming civic polls in Tamil Nadu alone. The announcement also ended speculation that Mr Vasan was looking to tie-up with the DMK before the polls.
