  The DMK's 'fill the jails' demonstration tomorrow has kept the prison authorities on their toes. Thousands of DMK workers are likely to court arrest to condemn what they see as 'vindictive police action' against their leaders on land grabbing and other charges.

• Former DMK ministers Veerapandi Arumugam and Periyasamy arrested in Tamil Nadu

  Two former DMK ministers Veerapandi S Arumugam and I Periyasamy were arrested on Monday on different charges. Mr Arumugam, the DMK's strongman in Salem district, was arrested near his residence on land grabbing charges and Mr Periyasamy at Koombur in Dindigul district for alleged illegal granite mining, police said.

  A local court today remanded M Natarajan, husband of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's estranged aide Sasikala to judicial custody till March 2. He was arrested in Chennai by Thanjavur police on Saturday in a land grabbing case.
