Anticipating heavy rainfall, the Tamil Nadu government has declared a holiday for schools in Chennai, Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram districts will also remain closed. Schools and colleges in Thiruvallur district will also remain closed.

Schools are shut in Chennai today due to heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu. Institutions in adjoining Thiruvallur district and Puducherry, a Union territory, too have declared rain holiday.

As rains lashed many parts of Tamil Nadu, the educational authorities in Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, and Villupuram districts of Tamil Nadu have declared school holidays.
