Indian designer Rahul Mishra gets awarded by the Government of France for his contribution to art and culture

Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran has been given France's highest civilian award Chevalier de la Legion d'honneur for his contributions to strengthen the trade relationship between India and France.

The highest French civilian award comes in recognition of her outstanding contribution in the field of art, her commitment to providing greater access to culture and her leading role in fostering Indo-French cultural ties.

With senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor set to be conferred with France's highest civilian award Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur, a host of party leaders congratulated him on the prestigious honour.

Priyam Chatterjee on Monday became the first Indian chef to be awarded the ''Chevalier de l''Ordre du Merite Agricoleto'' by the government of France to recognise his contribution towards reinventing the gastronomic scene in India.

French Ambassador to India Alexandre Ziegler will confer global software major Wipro Chairman Azim Premji with the highest French civilian award Chevalier del la Legion d'Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour) on Wednesday, said its consulate on Tuesday.

"Indian scholars have received 2 Chevaliers and don't advertise it. Between humility & fame silly me chose latter. Thank you friends and fans," tweeted Kamal Haasan

"I wish this generation's Chevalier Sivaji and my good friend Kamal Haasan for receiving the prestigious award," Rajinikanth wrote in Tamil on his Twitter page

"Chevalier Award humbles me. I dedicate it to my admirers. I bow before my more deserving forerunners Mr Satyajit Ray and Mr Sivaji Ganesan who made the common man realize the value of the Chevalier Award".

Mahindra & Mahindra chairman and managing director Anand Mahindra has been conferred with Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour) by the French authorities.

Aishwarya is one of the special invitees at the Republic Day luncheon, which will be hosted in honour of French President Francois Hollande. She was honoured by French government with their second highest civilian award - 'Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters' (Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) - in 2012

Bollywood baadshah Shah Rukh Khan was conferred with Chevalier Sivaji Award, constituted after veteran Tamil actor Sivaji Ganeshan, at the 7th edition of Vijay awards.

Armstrong was awarded the Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur in 2005 in recognition of his seven consecutive Tour victories. The American admitted to doping during all of those wins and has been stripped of the titles.
