South Korean businessman Chey Tae-won, chairman of the SK Group conglomerate, has been ordered to pay 1.38 trillion won ($1 billion) in cash to his former wife as part of their divorce settlement.

South Korean President Park Geun-Hye announced criminal pardons for 6,500 people today, including the head of the country's third largest conglomerate currently serving his second jail term for multi-million dollar fraud.
