Villagers in Chhattisgarh's Sukma District Pay the Price for Supporting Development

The 21-hour hostage crisis in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district finally ended on Saturday night with more than 250 villagers abducted by Naxals returning home to their village Marenga. While the family members of the released villagers took a brief sigh of relief, the same could not be said for the Nag family.

Mediators BD Sharma and Professor Hargopal have returned to Raipur after holding talks with the Maoists over the release of Sukma Collector Alex Paul Menon. The two mediators were flown to Maoist stronghold Chintalnar on Saturday where they held discussions with Mr Menon's abductors.
