The BJP has lashed out at the Congress protest move of withdrawal of its petition in Supreme Court on the impeachment of Chief Justice of India. The party's address to the media, explaining its reasons, has further infuriated the BJP. Congress chief Rahul Gandhi must explain the matter and say where he stands on this, the BJP has said.

Just a day after going to the Supreme Court, the Congress abruptly withdrew its petition today on the impeachment move against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, which was rejected recently by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.

Congress has withdrawn its petition challenging Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu's decision to reject the impeachment move against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra from the Supreme Court. 

A petition on the impeachment move against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, rejected recently by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, will be heard by a five-judge constitution bench of the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

The Congress has challenged in the Supreme Court the rejection of its impeachment move against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said today that the Congress was wrong in giving an impeachment notice against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra. The Trinamoool Congress did not support the impeachment move, she said.

The Congress's plan to approach the Supreme Court after its impeachment motion against the Chief Justice of India was rejected by the Rajya Sabha Chairman, is a "suicidal future move", Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
