Chikungunya Death Toll

Dengue and chikungunya seems to have gripped the state of Punjab. With 28 new cases of dengue in Patiala on Tuesday, dengue toll in the state has come to 172 and 40 new cases of chikungunya have come into picture.

Chikungunya seems to be on the wane in the national capital with only 342 fresh cases being recorded in the past week, taking the total number of people afflicted by the vector-borne disease to 11,193 this season.

The death toll due to chikungunya-triggered complications stood at 12 on Wednesday, with two new cases reported from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), prompting Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda to seek a report from the Delhi Government on the rising deaths and number of patients.

Five more deaths from chikungunya complications were reported today at a private hospital in Delhi, taking the total number of deaths due to the vector-borne disease in the national capital to 10.
