Children Fall Into Well

Three children from a family in Chhattisgarh's Raipur district fell into a well while plucking fruits from a tree and drowned, police said today.

Eleven people, comprising women and children, died after accidentally falling into a well during wedding celebrations at Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh last night.

The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Centre, states and Union Territories (UTs) to respond to a plea seeking action against authorities for failing to prevent children from falling into abandoned or open bore wells and dying across the country.

Three children drowned in Madhya Pradesh's Shajapur district today when their school-van, packed beyond capacity, fell into a well, the police said.

Four children were electrocuted when a live wire snapped and fell into a tube well pool in which they were bathing. The incident took place on Friday evening in Petiyan village in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district.

Ten persons, including six children, were killed when their autorickshaw fell into an agricultural well in Nizamabad district of Telangana today, the police said.

A nine-year-old boy and his seven year-old sister on Thursday drowned in a water tank at Gondanapally village in Medak district, police said.
