The investigation into the Rose Valley chit fund or Ponzi scheme that sent two Trinamool Congress MPs to jail last month has lurched into sex scandal turf and may be brought up in Parliament soon.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today questioned famed magician-turned-BJP leader PC Sorcar (Junior) in connection with the multi-billion-rupee chit fund scandal.

West Bengal Transport and Sports Minister Madan Mitra, an accused in the multi-billion rupee Saradha chit fund scandal, will be kept in under house arrest till a CBI plea for cancellation of his bail was decided, the Calcutta High Court said on Thursday.

A Bengal minister was today questioned in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam but another missed his date with the CBI saying he was in hospital. This is the first time ministers have been questioned in the scandal that has greatly embarrassed the government of Mamata Banerjee.

Hitting out at Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the alleged cover up bid in land scam, the BJP today demanded a CBI probe into the allotment of land and houses as role of political leaders had now surfaced during inquiry into chit fund scandal by the central agency.

Sudipta Sen, the chairman of Saradha Group, which allegedly defrauded thousands of small investors, and two others, were on Tuesday sent to judicial custody till June 3 in cases related to cheating by a court at Baruipur in South 24 Parganas district.

Uproar over various issues, including BJP demand for resignation of the Prime Minister over the coal scam and the chit fund scandal in West Bengal, disrupted proceedings in Parliament, forcing Lok Sabha to adjourn for the day.
