US President Donald Trump on Friday lashed out at CNN for blaming him for the current spate of bombs being sent to present and former high-ranking officials including his predecessor Barack Obama, saying it is "funny" how he is being criticised by the cable news network and others.

The White House has accused the CNN of dividing America as the news network criticised the Trump administration for a "total and complete lack of understanding" of the seriousness of its attacks on the media following the discovery of an explosive package sent to CNN's New York City office.

Lashing out at American media, Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump termed CNN as "Clinton News Network" and called the New York Times "dishonest" for allegedly favouring his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.

Declaring that an attack on one nation's computer networks "can be an attack on all," Hillary Clinton said that the United States would defend itself from cyber attacks.
