A 23-year-old student today died while five others were hospitalised after inhaling smoke, triggered by a fire that broke out in a three-storeyed building in Coimbatore, where crackers were reportedly stocked, police said.

Four women employees of Axis Bank were killed in a fire accident at the bank's building in Coimbatore. The fire started on the third floor of the building at 10:15 am. Twelve fire engines were rushed to the spot and it took them two hours to douse the fire.
