Coimbatore Elephants Dead

A 30-year-old female elephant and its newborn calf were found dead in Sirumugai forest in the district here on Tuesday, officials said.

Two elephants were found dead in Coimbatore, one due to gunshot wounds near Kandiyur and the other following suspected ill-health while the carcass of another jumbo was found in nearby Nilgiris, forest department officials said on Thursday.

A 75-year-old doctor, practicing traditional medicine, was found dead today in the forest of Vellingiri Hills near Coimbatore.
