For the first time ever, scientists have detected ethyl alcohol - the kind that makes booze - in emissions from a comet. Comet Lovejoy, it turns out, is quite aptly named: The ball of ice and dust, which releases the equivalent of about 500 bottles of wine each second during its peak activity, also emits a type of sugar.
