A Delhi court on Monday paved the way for the trial of Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy under terror charges from September 4. According to police, Ghandy was involved in setting up a new network of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist in Delhi. He was arrested from Delhi in September 20, 2009 while undergoing treatment for cancer.

Two Maoists, one of them a woman wing commander of the local unit of the Communist Party of India-Maoist, on Monday surrendered in Odisha's Keonjhar district, police said. Janaki Sayan, 35, and Aidmand Saya, 30, surrendered before the police in the district headquarters town of Keonjhar.

Children as young as 12 are being recruited by Maoist rebels in Jharkhand in their propaganda war against the government and security forces. At least 300 children are being trained by the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) group and also being provided training in small arms, police say.
