Coronavirus Restriction In Kerala

As Kerala continues to register a steep rise in COVID-19 cases, the State government on Monday said the educational institutions which have less than 40 per cent attendance for consecutive three days will be closed for two weeks.

The Pinarayi Vijayan government in Kerala has imposed a series of new restrictions amid all-time high Covid cases that include allowing only essential services on two Sundays, starting January 23.

The Kerala government today imposed fresh curbs on gatherings after the state reported 6,238 fresh Covid cases yesterday, its highest daily case count in about two months.

Days after neighbouring Karnataka imposed travel restrictions on persons from the state in view of the COVID situation, Kerala ChiefMinister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday said the fresh curbswere against the directive of the Centre in this regard.

India recorded less than 2 lakh Covid cases for the third consecutive day with 1.65 lakh fresh infections, taking overall case count to 2.78 crore. The positivity rate remained below 10 per cent for sixth straight day amid battle against second wave.
