Innocent Indian women have suffered for long due to the persistent terrorist acts perpetrated by "proxies of Pakistan", India has said as it strongly rejecting references by Islamabad to conditions of women in Jammu and Kashmir.

India has emphasised that an "unrelenting focus" on poverty eradication should remain at the core of UN's operational activities which must be closely aligned to national development plans even as it cautioned against "externally-imposed prescriptions".

India has written a letter to UN chief Ban Ki-moon informing him of senior diplomat Devyani Khobragade's transfer as Counsellor to the Indian mission in New York and requested that she be accorded the same privileges and immunities as a diplomatic officer.
