Supreme Court Orders Removal Of Debris Over Kerala Flats Demolition

The Supreme Court Monday directed the Kerala government to remove the debris, including from backwaters, of four apartment complexes in Kochi's Maradu area that were demolished on the court's order for being built in violation of the coastal regulation zone (CRZ) norms.

Top Court Orders Demolition Of Posh Kerala Flats Over Coastal Zone Rules

The Supreme Court on Friday ordered the demolition of illegal flats in Kochi's Maradu Panchayat in Kerala by September 20 for violation of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) rules. The court has also asked the Chief Secretary to be present before the bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra on September 23.

Will Seek Amendment To Green Court's Construction Order, Says Manohar Parrikar

The Goa government may move the National Green Tribunal (NGT) as well as think of approaching a legal forum seeking an amendment to a recent NGT order. The NGT in its recent order to different states had banned any new activity in the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) till a Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) was finalised.

Earlier, seeking to move the motion, P Sreeramakrishnan (CPI-M) said the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) on April 28 last quashed an order of Kerala Coastal Zone Management Authority (KCZMA) to stop the project of DLF and setting up a three-member committee to study the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) violation of the company.
