Very severe cyclonic storm 'Madi' over the Bay of Bengal remained stationary between Chennai and Triconamalee in Sri Lanka and would weaken gradually, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today.

A cyclonic storm named 'Madi' would intensify into a severe cyclonic storm, bringing rain or thundershowers over some parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh during the next 48 hours.
