Cyclone Threat In Chennai

Heavy rain has submerged track and badly affected train services in Chennai, hours after the threat of a cyclone receded.

With heavy rain expected in most parts of Tamil Nadu today, schools and colleges will be shut in Puducherry, Chennai and adjoining districts Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur. However the cyclone threat is over, say authorities.

The south Andhra and north Tamil Nadu coast is facing the threat of a cyclone later in the week with a cyclonic storm formation in the Bay of Bengal likely to intensify and hit the coast between Tamil Nadu and Andhra on December 30, the weather office said on Tuesday.
