Keshav Gujjar, a dreaded dacoit who is wanted by the police of three states, was arrested in Rajasthan after a fierce gunfight with the cops.

Sixty five-year-old Chheda Singh, who is believed to have been among the dacoits who kidnapped 'Bandit Queen' Phoolan Devi in 1980, has been arrested after a search spanning over two decades.

Nine dacoits were arrested following an encounter that also left two constables injured in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur district on Monday, a senior police official said.

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Saturday claimed to have busted a gang of dacoits involved in several highway robberies with the arrest of nine people from Greater Noida.

The incident took place between 9.30 pm and 10 pm yesterday when a police team reached Waghoba Khind after some motorists alerted them that some people hurled stones at their vehicle in a bid to rob them.

Six dacoits have been nabbed and valuables including gold ornaments and vehicles totally worth Rs 13 lakh seized from them, police said. The men were arrested on August 14 while hatching a plan to commit another robbery.
