In a suspected case of suicide, the body of a 20-year-old woman with a cloth tied around her neck was found inside the washroom of Swaraj Express train at Dahanu Road railway station Palghar, Maharashtra on Sunday afternoon, a police official said.

A fire broke out in two wagons of a goods train near Dahanu in Palghar district of Maharashtra late on Thursday night, as a result of which at least 10 long-distance trains were halted, police said.

The Dahanu police on Monday rescued a newborn girl abandoned in a roadside pit, after some residents informed them. According to police sources, a group of children from Pale Boripada village was playing cricket in the area, when a few of them spotted the baby lying in the pit.

A youth has been arrested for allegedly killing a 45-year-old villager in Dahanu taluka of the district on suspicion that he had been practising witchcraft, police said today.
