An escort car for President Pranab Mukherjee fell into a gorge in Darjeeling today. All six security personnel traveling in the car were rescued in an operation that was overseen by West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

A fresh landslip was today reported at Gayabari, 56 km from Darjeeling today, cutting off the road link between Darjeeling and Mirik which alone had accounted for 21 deaths in yesterday's landslides, an official of West Bengal's Disaster Management Department said.
