Former Mumbai Police Commissioner and Maharashtra DGP Datta Padsalgikar has been appointed as Deputy National Security Advisor (NSA).

Senior IPS officer Subodh Kumar Jaiswal today took charge as the new police commissioner of Mumbai. Datta Padsalgikar, whom Mr Jaiswal replaced as the top city cop, took over as the Director General of Police, Maharashtra from Satish Mathur who retired today.

Police should be sensitive while dealing with people's complaints, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said yesterday. He was speaking after inauguration of 'Dial-100' system and some other initiatives at the police commissioner's office in Mumbai.

The Mumbai police have been able to rein in the underworld activities and are confident of tackling the organised crime syndicates, Commissioner Datta Padsalgikar has said.

Eight years after the terror attacks in the city which claimed 166 lives, Mumbai's top cop is confident that the force is ready to meet any terror threat.
