Delhi Couple Harassed

The Delhi government has issued a standard operating procedure (SoP) for the protection of inter-faith and inter-caste couples from harassment and threats and directed setting up of "special cells", headed by deputy commissioners of police, to look into such matters.

Two men were arrested for allegedly misbehaving with and threatening a couple on Outer Ring Road in west Delhi after a purported video clip of the incident became viral on social media, police said on Friday.

Highlighting the harassment faced by electricity distribution companies (discoms) from consumers, Delhi discom BSES on Wednesday said its officials were violently attacked by a married couple recently, leaving one with serious injury that required "six stitches".

The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Delhi granted relief to the couple last week on Tuesday, by directing them to recover their money with 9 per cent interest from the date of booking onwards, along with Rs 5,000 as compensation for mental and physical harassment caused to them.
