The Delhi Division of Northern Railway conducted a ticket-checking drive today, collecting penalties amounting to more than Rs 17.17 lakh, a statement from the zonal railway said.

In a bid to cope with festive rush, Railways have said there will be no sale of platform tickets from October 27 to November 5 at major stations in Delhi Division, including New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin.

Stepping up efforts to prevent accidents at unmanned level crossings, Northern Railway has deployed 85 personnel known as "Gate Mitras" to educate road users at vulnerable rail crossings in Delhi Division.
