Delhi Garbage Dumping Ground

BJP MP from East Delhi Gautam Gambhir on Wednesday said that reduction of height of the Ghazipur landfill has been his priority from day one, and claimed that in three years the massive dump will be "decimated totally".

Two of Delhi's three garbage landfills are on fire, filling the air with toxic smoke that is threatening to derail the best efforts of the Arvind Kejriwal government to show a decline in pollution since its Odd-Even experiment began.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi sat on the ground surrounded by protesting sanitation workers in East Delhi, parts of which have turned into giant garbage dumps with an estimated 15,000 tonnes of waste rotting on roadsides in the sweltering summer heat.
