Seven members of a family, including two children, were found dead in their home in Ranchi on Monday in an apparent mass suicide, weeks after the family suicide in Delhi's Burari.

Over 200 people have been questioned in connection with the mysterious deaths of 11 members of the Chundawat family in north Delhi's Burari, even as the police are certain that it was a case of "mass suicide", said a senior police officer.

Less than a week after the mass suicides in Delhi Burari sent shockwaves across the country, a similar incident has come to light in Maharashtra. Five of a family including two babies were found in a critical condition at their home in Raigad, with a half empty bottle of phenyl lying around on Wednesday.

The family that was found hanging in their north Delhi house on June 30 began preparations at least 10 days before its alleged "mass suicide", police said. As per a video footage obtained from a premises opposite the family house, the family bought goods used in rituals, five tables and bandage from shops close to their Burari home.

The mystery of the deaths in Burari's house of horrors appears to have been solved with the discovery of CCTV footage from an adjacent house.

Until we find strong evidence to the contrary, it appears to be a case of mass suicide.
