The Central Industrial Security Force or CISF will soon get over 6,600 additional personnel to bolster its strength for its two major tasks of guarding the Delhi Metro and VIPs, officials said today.

Delhi Metro commuters will henceforth not be allowed to cover their faces using surgical masks or mufflers even as the security-hold area at close to two dozen stations has been expanded in view of the new security drills being deployed to more effectively guard the rapid rail network.

Days after a man smuggled a country-made pistol inside the Delhi Metro premises, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) today said it has asked Metro authorities to immediately plug a long-existing "weak link" in the security infrastructure at some of the stations in its network.
