Delhi Ozone Spike

Delhi and its neighbouring cities -- Faridabad and Gurgaon -- have witnessed "substantial ozone build-up" from February to May, a green body today claimed, cautioning that it was early signs of a "dangerous trend".

Delhi's air quality plunged on Tuesday with monitoring stations recording this month's highest level surface-level ozone and a spike in respirable pollutants. The air quality across the national capital was 'very poor'.

With second phase of the odd-even scheme set to roll out from April 15, experts will be keeping a close eye on gaseous pollutants such as ozone which spikes during the summer season, while Centre's SAFAR will be monitoring ultra-fine particles.
