According to an official, the construction of Delhi University's East Campus is likely to be completed within two years once the work commences.

Director of Delhi University's South Campus Prakash Singh informed PTI that the entire 12-acre will not be used for the campus.

The construction of the Delhi University's East Campus is expected to start next year and it is likely to be ready in 2026, Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh said.

Delhi Education Minister Atishi alleged that Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena pressured the officials of Indraprastha university and her department to take charge of inauguration of the east Delhi campus of the varsity, threatening them with suspension.

The east Delhi campus of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) was inaugurated by both Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal but not before it sparked a political face-off.

The University has 14 schools, 12 at the Dwarka campus and two at the newly established East Delhi campus, Surajmal Vihar. It also has one centre of excellence in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Dwarka campus.

The newly constructed East Campus of the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) here will be functional from the current academic session.
