A 25-year-old student on Sunday died after he allegedly died by suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of his hostel in the IP University in southwest Delhi, officials said.

Irani had announced to grant funds from the Nirbhaya Fund for women's hostels in Delhi University on March 7.

Union Cabinet Minister Smriti Zubin Irani on Thursday announced a grant from the Nirbhaya Fund for women's hostels at Delhi University, according to a statement.

The College was contemplating on constructing additional two floors on the existing building but the base was not strong enough to sustain any further construction.

The newly constructed hostels are said to be equipped with fully furnished and air conditioned rooms, a TV Room, a gymnasium, indoor games area, a reading and internet room, a dining room, a parlour, an activity room, and a guest room.

The two new campuses of the state-run Ambedkar University campuses will have multi-storey academic blocks and auditoriums along with health centers, convention blocks, MLCP, administration blocks, library blocks, amphitheatres, guest houses, separate hostels for girls and boys.
