In the nearly two decades of privatisation of power distribution in the national capital, discoms have helped save around Rs 1.2 lakh crore primarily by cutting down aggregate technical and commercial losses, officials said on Tuesday.

Citing the widening revenue gap to be around Rs 28,000 crore, Delhi's three private power distribution companies have pitched for early announcement of annual tariff revision.

Uphaar cinema owners, Sushil and Gopal Ansal, on Monday, claimed innocence in the Delhi High Court. They said the blaze in the theatre, which killed 59 cinegoers in 1997, had started from a negligently repaired Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB) transformer.
