A businessman who reached the BJP office in Uttarakhand after drinking poison two days ago died in a hospital today in state capital Dehradun. The transporter's suicide has reignited criticism of the centre's demonetisation decision and the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax that the transporter blamed for ruining him.

A container truck hired by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to carry demonetised currency notes from Bhilai in Chhattisgarh to Nagpur, was stopped at Deori border check-post in Gondia district and penalised for overloading, by the Regional Transport Office (RTO).

Banned Notes Worth Rs 8.15 Crore Deposited By Transport Corporation, Delhi Government Refers Matter To ACB

Demonetised notes worth Rs 8.15 crore were deposited in banks by Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) officials between November 8 and 20, an inquiry panel has said in its preliminary report, prompting the Delhi government to refer the matter to ACB for probe.
