The committee that picks the Nobel Peace Prize demoted its chairman today for the first time in the 114-year history of the awards after his right-wing opponents gained a majority on the panel.

The fund manager says there was nothing wrong in Mr. Murthy being appointed the executive chairman, though he adds that his appointment is an admission of the fact that the policy of making each founder a CEO has not worked.

The top management at LIC is in for a bit of musical chairs. The term of the current LIC Chairman, T S Vijayan comes to an end on May 2, but he doesn’t know his next posting with two years to go as a bureaucrat.
