Dengue Cases In Haryana

The death of seven-year-old Adya Singh at Gurgaon's Fortis hospital was "murder", a Haryana minister has said after a government investigation reinforced allegations of overcharging and egregious negligence by the hospital. Fortis is staring at a police case and the prospect of losing its land lease.

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij today said the situation in the state was comparatively better than the last year with lesser number of dengue and chikungunya cases and no death reported due to vector-borne disease so far.

As many as 322 dengue cases and 6,695 cases of malaria have been reported in Haryana this season, a senior health official said today.

Chandigarh has been witnessing a sudden surge in the number of dengue cases this season as 136 people have tested positive for the vector-borne disease till today.

Cases of dengue are being reported from Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Odisha and a number of other places. Delhi has taken the biggest hit so far, and is witnessing the worst outbreak in five years, with more than 2000 recorded cases and over 25 deaths.

The number of dengue cases in Delhi and its adjoining areas has risen to 225, authorities said on Monday.
