Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease that can lead to fever, muscle and joint pain, fatigue and rashes. It is transmitted by female mosquitoes mainly, Aedes aegypti.

At least 50 people, including 40 children, have died in western Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad district in the last 10 days from dengue. The state government said the deaths were due to "Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever," which is a severe form of the disease.

On Wednesday, senior officials of the Health department claimed that Madurai has not witnessed any dengue deaths as of now. Here are some important tips to prevent dengue.

Sudden high fever or dengue fever is transmitted by the bite of an Aedes mosquito infected with a dengue virus. The mosquito becomes infected when it bites a person with dengue virus in their blood. It cant be spread directly from one person to another person.
