Dengue Outbreak In Odisha

Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Faggan Singh Kulaste on Saturday charged the Odisha government with failing to control the dengue outbreak in various parts of the state.

Cases of dengue are being reported from Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Odisha and a number of other places. Delhi has taken the biggest hit so far, and is witnessing the worst outbreak in five years, with more than 2000 recorded cases and over 25 deaths.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today urged Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to take action against the hospitals that allegedly did not admit a boy from Odisha suspected to be suffering from dengue, resulting in his death, a release said.

Stagnant water pools and unsanitary conditions in a plant being constructed by Tata Steel Ltd in Odisha led to a dengue fever outbreak which infected more than 280 workers, killing one of them, a government official said on Friday.
