An association of doctors in West Bengal has shot off letters to the Union health ministry and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, making a case for a relook at the revised policy for discharge of coronavirus patients and setting up dedicated critical care units in COVID-19 hospitals of the state.

All the 36 accused, including S Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila were discharged in the IPL-6 spot-fixing case by Patiala House Court in July 2015. The BCCI, however, had refused to alter its disciplinary decision.

Asserting that there was a need to follow a policy of "zero discharge of effluents" to clean Ganga River, the centre today said that it was considering bringing in a legislation in this regards in consultation with the states through which the river flows.
